From Dylan's fourth album "Another Side of Bob Dylan", released on Columbia in 1964. Best cover version in my opinion: Johnny Cash with June Carter from "Orange Blossom Special",1965, also released as a successful single.
Trusted sources - which means NOT the writer himself - take the background to Dylan splitting up with Suze Rotolo in a crash. Evil rumours tell, that this song was really written to Paul Clayton, as a response to an invitation to be closer than friends. Clayton was gay. Even more evil rumours tell, that "It's All Over Now Baby Blue" confirmed the closing of their relationship. Dylan himself has never mentioned anything about this; then we all should forget about it all. Both songs are standalone, written by a man carrying off his words to extent, and surprisingly winning the "The Nobel Prize in Literature" for the compound and general influence.
The most surprised person was probably His Bobness himself. It is one of Swedish Academy's most disputed awards ever, and it took quite a long time until he responded officially, or responded at all. He did not attend the Nobel Prize ceremony, let Patti Page take care of his speech, but later collected his Nobel gold medal and diploma at a private, low-key event in Stockholm during his tour stop in April 2017. Then he kept on telling the world that HE's not the one we're looking for.
The man sure is worth more than a Nobel Prize. Today, he would have passed it over to Donald Trump for HIS beautiful, heavy and golden literate work on HIS internet as a substitute for missing the Nobel Peace Prize; then chuckled.
And the top right medal is a morph, of course.
